What is the GGI?

The Grant for Growth Innovation (GGI) is an initiative funded by EMD Serono, a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.

Researchers with proposals for projects that have the potential to advance understanding in the field of growth are invited to apply for the GGI award.

EMD Serono is investing a total of 400,000 Euros per year in this program. This total amount will be divided among up to 3 research proposals. The duration of each project should not exceed 3 years. Projects with indirect costs exceeding 25% of project value will not be accepted.

Applications are evaluated by an independent Scientific Committee composed of internationally renowned researchers and endocrinologists, according to five criteria:

  • Innovation
  • Scientific rationale
  • Clarity
  • Feasibility
  • Impact of research.

The 2017 grant winners were announced on Friday, September 15, 2017, coinciding with the 10th International Meeting of Pediatric Endocrinology (IMPE) in Washington, DC, US.
